C.A. van Aswegen

C.A. van Aswegen, with more than 37 local and international films under his belt, graduated with cum laude in his honours year in Motion Picture Medium at AFDA in Johannesburg.

After university, C.A. started his career as editor on short format productions and after more than 150 advertisements and many awarded music videos his focus shifted to the world of long format narrative.

With several TV series, which won awards in the industry, as well as various highly acclaimed and award-winning documentary films, among others a memorial series about the life of Nelson Mandela, C.A. cements his reputation in the South African entertainment industry.

In 2016 he wins the international AMAA Award for his editing on the film, “Hear Me Move”.

He also receives six SAFTA nominations as editor, among others for films such as “Roepman”, “Fatherland” and “Die Ongelooflike Avonture van Hanna Hoekom”.

Some of his more well-known projects include the films, “Ellen: Die Ellen Pakkies Storie”, “Vir Altyd”, “Vaselinetjie”, “Susters”, “Stroomop”, “Vir die Voëls”, “Ballade vir ’n Enkeling”, “Klein Karoo”, “The Owner”, “Night Drive”, “Bakgat!”, “Ouma se Slim Kind” and “Noem My Skollie”. C.A. is a fully accredited member of the South African Guild of Editors.
